For players who are ready to take the next step in their cricket journey, there are a number of exciting representative pathways available through our club. We’re proud to support young cricketers who want to challenge themselves, develop their skills, and experience cricket at a higher level.
North Queensland Country Cup – Whitsunday Bullsharks
The North Queensland Country Cup is one of the most unique and rewarding representative experiences available to our junior players.
Created to ensure kids of all abilities have the chance to experience a representative-style carnival, this competition focuses on participation, connection, and community just as much as performance. It brings together regional clubs from places like Charters Towers, Innisfail, Home Hill, and the Whitsundays in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Our players take the field as the Whitsunday Bullsharks – a combined team made up of juniors from Proserpine Junior Cricket and Bowen Cricket Clubs. It’s a partnership we’re incredibly proud of, giving players the opportunity to build friendships across clubs and be part of something bigger than their own team.
More than just cricket, the Country Cup is about confidence, teamwork, and shared experiences. It allows players to step into a representative setting without the pressure, making it the perfect introduction to carnival-style cricket.
The impact of this initiative hasn’t gone unnoticed, with the competition recognised as the Junior Initiative of the Year at the Queensland Cricket Community Awards in the 2022/23 season.
Mackay Whitsunday Cyclones
Being selected in the Mackay Whitsunday representative team is a special opportunity for players to take their cricket beyond club level and experience the game in a whole new way.
Each December, selected players take part in the Northern Alliance Conference, where they come together with teammates from across the region to compete, connect, and grow. But it’s about more than just the cricket.
It’s about forming new friendships, learning to be part of a team in a different environment, and creating memories that last well beyond the season. Players are exposed to new challenges, different styles of play, and a higher level of competition – all of which helps build confidence and resilience.
For many, this is an important step in their cricket journey. It opens the door to further representative pathways and gives players a glimpse of what’s possible as they continue to develop their skills and love for the game.
Most importantly, it’s an experience that helps young cricketers grow – not just as players, but as teammates and individuals.
Queensland School Sport Representative Pathway
For players who are involved in school cricket, the Queensland School Sport pathway offers another exciting opportunity to progress and represent at higher levels.
This pathway begins at school level, with students selected to represent their district, before progressing through regional and state-level teams. It’s a well-recognised and respected pathway that allows young cricketers to challenge themselves while balancing both school and club commitments.

Many of our players combine both club and school representative cricket, using each experience to grow their game, build resilience, and develop a deeper understanding of cricket in different environments.
